Argentina
  • General representation of International Water Limited, a subsidiary of Bechtel Enterprises Incorporated (US) and United Utilities International Limited (UK) in privatizations and water related projects in Argentina. 
  • Represented the group lead by the Northumbrian Water Group PLC in the privatization of the potable water distribution system of Cordoba. 
  • Represented the group lead by Amoco Argentina Oil Company in the privatization of YPF's Terminales Maritimas Patagonicas S.A. 
  • Served as lead counsel for Petroquimica Cuyo S.A.I.C. in their Polypropylene Plant Project, which involved an investment of $160 million. 
  • Represented Profertil S.A., a company owned by YPF S.A. and Agrium, Inc. (Canada), for their project finance project of building and operating the largest fertilizer (urea) plant in the world.
  • Represented Hidrocarburos Fueguinos, a company wholly owned by the Province of Tierra del Fuego, in the re-negotiation of an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Management Agreement of a refinery in Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuego.

Bolivia

Brazil
  • Advised BNDESPAR in the privatization of Companhia Brasileira de Cobre (CBC)
  • Advised Consortium Opportrans, winner of the concession to operate the subway system of Rio de Janeiro.
  • Advised a consortium of Japanese companies (six largest steel mills and five largest trading companies) participating in the auction for acquisition of the control of Companhia Vale do Rio Doce- CVRD.

Chile
  • Respresented IDC Chile S.A., concessionaire of various airports in Chile.
  • Represented the concessionaires of the Free Zone in Punta Arenas, Chile.
  • Represented an international consortium in the concession process of the Santiago airport.

Colombia
  • International Finance Corporation was selected in late 2007 by the Colombian Government to be its financial advisor to structure the Ruta del Sol project, and pursuant to a bidding process POSSE, HERRERA & RUIZ was chosen by IFC to be its legal advisor. The Ruta del Sol concession is a highway communicating Bogotá with the northern coast of Colombia (Santa Marta). It is a project of aprox. 1000 kms. with an estimated investment of US$2.5 billion. Lawyers: Partner José Alejandro Torres and associate Alessia Abello.
  • Advisors to Colombian four pension funds and Chilean foreign investors in the US$170 million acquisition and financing of the Termotasajero coal-fired power generation facility. Lawyers: Partners Jaime Herrera, Mariana Posse and Juan Guillermo Ruiz and associates Alessia Abello, Claudia Caballero, Carolina Camacho y Mario Criales.


Mexico
  • Represented Industrias del Agua, S.A. de C.V. in joint venture negotiations with Severn Trent Plc. (of England) and their successful bid to operate one quarter of the Mexico City potable water system. Represented Industrias del Agua in several further successful bids in both Mexico and other Latin America countries. Negotiated the sale of a minority interest of Industrias del Agua to Azurix Corp., a subsidiary of Enron Corp. 
  • Represented Cooper T. Smith in its successful bid for a stevedoring contract in the privatization of port services for the port of Altamira. 
  • Represented Laidlaw, Inc. in its proposed equity investment in various water treatment projects in the State of Morelos. 
  • Represented a leading U.S. landfill operator in its bid for a hazardous wastes treatment facility in the State of Sinaloa.

Peru
  • Advised the Peruvian Government, through the Special Committee for the Promotion of Private Investment in ENAFER S.A., in the successful concession process of the Peruvian railroad system. 
  • Represented a consortium led by GyM (one of the biggest construction companies in Peru) in the negotiation, structuring and drafting of the concession agreement for the Arequipa-Matarani toll road concession, the first toll road concession granted in Peru. 
  • Represented Concessiones de Carreberas S.A., a Peruvian highway concessionaire, in conjunction with a project finance transaction structured by Interbank, secured by a pledge of toll road receipts and rights to assign the concession agreement in the event of default.
